Holiday Travels

For some reason, none of our family trips when the kids were little included the Grand Canyon, an omission we've been hearing about in recent years. So this year, we punctuated our holiday get-together in Las Vegas with a post-Christmas, pre-New Year's Eve road trip. It was great and, I suspect, a whole lot more fun with 20-something kids than it would have been with younger kids (who, after all, can't be expected to appreciate the extraordinary geological implications and would likely have been more interested in the hotel pool than anything else).

Lovely photos.

I lived in AZ for nearly 20 years before going up to the Grand Canyon. Now I've lived in Seattle for nearly 15 years and have yet to visit the Space Needle.

When it's close......I guess you think it'll always be there!

Hi Debra,

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment! I'm glad Ari made that post about de-lurking. I love to discover new blogs.

Your novel sounds intriguing. I plan on buying a copy. According to the reviews, it sounds like a real winner!

All the best for 2009!

Hi Debra,

Yes, I'm looking forward to reading your book. I ordered it through Amazon a couple days ago. Love the Grand Canyon photos. My husband did a lot of road trips before we were married. He told me about how lovely the Grand Canyon looked in the stillness of winter. There were only a handful of people around when he visited it one time. He totally freaked out the other tourists when he intentionally slid on the ice and stopped himself just short of going over the edge. He was a daredevil and grasped life joyously with both hands. :) Thanks for helping me to recall that memory.
